Best Chipotle Cheese Sauce (Vegan Recipe)
This is the best Chipotle cheese sauce I have tried in my life. Trust me, vegans and non-vegans will love it!! I’m so excited to share it with you. It’s eggless, gluten free, processed sugar free, low in saturated fats, and tastes beyond amazing!
It’s perfect as a dip with chips or veggies. It also goes great on sandwiches, tacos, burritos, and even in mac & cheese!
Vegan Chipotle Cheese Sauce
One of my vegan friends introduced me to a vegan chipotle sauce she buys at Costco and I was hooked the second I tried it. Since I was familiar with all the ingredients on the label, I just needed to try making my own. To be honest, we don’t have a Costco subscription and there isn’t one relatively close to our home anyway. At the same time, this sauce is so good that I wanted to share it with my Chilean family (they all live in Chile and this sauce is not available there). I was on a mission to recreate this sauce at home and I nailed it!! I love it because it’s:
Healthier than most store bought chipotle cheese sauces I’ve seen.
Super quick and easy to make. You just throw everything to the food processor.
Ingredients are pretty healthy, I use sunflower seed oil which is low in saturated fats.
It’s crazy tasty but be careful because it can be addictive… it’s that good!
Ingredients
Almonds
Nutritional yeast
Sunflower seed oil
Apple cider vinegar
Tamari sauce
Tomato sauce
Cumin
Oregano
Paprika
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Chipotle chilies
Cayenne pepper
Liquid smoke
Don’t worry, it’s not insanely spicy. The one chipotle chili this recipe has adds just the perfect kick to it.
Almonds: You can soak them in water overnight or soak them in boiling water for 15 minutes (once the water boils I leave it at minimum heat if I do that).
Oil: While I use sunflower seed oil for this recipe, because the original from the grocery store has this type of neutral oil, a good canola or olive oil would work ok too (but might impact the flavor a bit!).
Nutritional yeast: Do not skip this ingredient!! I use vegan, gluten free, non-GMO nutritional yeast from Anthony’s Foods.
How to Make the Best Vegan Chipotle Cheese Sauce?
You need a good food processor or blender. I use a Ninja Blender for this recipe.
Soak almonds overnight or for 15-20 minutes in extra hot water.
Throw all ingredients in the food processor.
Process until smooth. It took about 5 minutes in my Ninja Blender.
Pour in a container and enjoy it as a dip, on sandwiches, or even on mac & cheese! It goes well with everything.
You can store leftovers in the fridge in an air tight container.
